Dr. Schwartz’s lifelong history of academic achievement began when he completed 

his undergraduate education at Duke University in biomedical engineering.  He then 
completed his medical school education at the University of Cincinnati, where he became
interested in psychoanalysis, sleep, dreams, and biological rhythms. He then completed 
his psychiatric residency at Yale University and his 7-year clinical psychobiology fellowship 
at the National Institute of Mental Health, where he focused on the psychobiology and 
psychopharmacology of recurrent mood disorders. Dr. Schwartz is currently a 7th year 
candidate at the Cincinnati Psychoanalytic Institute.  Dr. Schwartz has published 40 papers 
on various aspects of psychobiology and psychoanalysis. He currently practices out of West 
Chester, Ohio, and specializes in psychopharmacology, psychoanalytic psychotherapy, and 
psychoanalysis.
